🎀 Above Reproach / Blameless Character

1 Timothy 3:2 "An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,"

Titus 1:6-7 "if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion. For the overseer must be above reproach as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain,"

🎀 A Walk with Christ Marked by Holiness

1 Peter 1:15-16 "but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, 'YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.'"

Hebrews 12:14 "Pursue peace with all men, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord."

2 Corinthians 7:1 "Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

Titus 1:9 "holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teachings of Christ, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict."

🎀 Not Given to Excessive Alcohol or Violence

1 Timothy 3:3 "not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money."

Titus 1:7 "For the overseer must be above reproach as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain,"

1 Timothy 5:8 "But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."

2 Thessalonians 3:10 "For even when we were with you, we used to give you this command: 'If anyone is not willing to work, neither should he eat.'"

🎀 Manages Household Well

1 Timothy 3:4-5 "He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity (but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?),"

Titus 1:6 "having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion."

Eph 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 13:24 “Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.”

Titus 2:4–5 “…encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

🎀 Not a Novice or New Convert

1 Timothy 3:6 "not a new convert, so that he will not become conceited and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil."

🎀 Good Reputation with Outsiders

1 Timothy 3:7 "And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil."

🎀 Hospitable and Loving What is Good

Titus 1:8 "but hospitable, loving what is good..."

🎀 Just, Devout, Self Controlled

Titus 1:8 "...just, devout, self-controlled,"

🎀 Gentle, Not Quarrelsome

2 Timothy 2:24-25 "The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,"

🎀 Leads by Example

1 Peter 5:2-3 "shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock."

🎀 Willing Servant, Not Self-Seeking

🎀 Holding Firmly to the Teachings of Jesus

2 John 1:9 "Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son." 

Galatians 1:8 "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!"

🎀 Godly Order in Marriage

Ephesians 5:22–24 “Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

🎀 Respect Toward Husband

Ephesians 5:33 “…the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.”

🎀 Husbands Honoring His Wife

1 Peter 3:7 "Husbands, in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker partner, showing them honor as coheirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered."

🎀 Wives Pure and Reverent Conduct

1 Peter 3:1–2 “In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior.”

🎀 Inner Beauty Over Outward Appearance

1 Peter 3:3–4 “Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

1 Peter 3:5–6 “For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands.”
